KNOT MYCELIUM

CO-CREATED ARTWORK FROM SCRAP FABRIC

FUNGI FESTIVAL, Royal Academy of Art and Design 5.-6.10.2025

I collected white scrap fabric for some time, dreaming about making a big collective mycelium. Why not make it at the Fungi Festival! I put up a basic structure and then invited all the fungal festival-goers to cocreate the mycelium network with me. So many participated, and I was surprised to see the mycelium grow so large, it even took over the hallway outside of the room I was in.

A totally spontaneus and wonderful collaboration emerged with dancer and choreographer Anastasija Olescuka, because she was to present her work in the same room as the knotted mycelium. The audience sat inside the mycelium, and her dancers danced inside the mycelium which was just amazing.
